LINCOLN – The ACLU of Nebraska announced today a series of events and activities to support and celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Nebraskans during June, which is nationally celebrated as LGBT Pride Month. Pride month celebrations trace their origin to the historic 1969 events at the Stonewall Inn, a site on the National Register of Historic Places.
"Over 60,000 LGBT people are our Nebraska neighbors. They pay taxes, raise families, work and contribute to our communities spanning Omaha to Scottsbluff. During Pride month, we encourage all Nebraskans to take a moment to learn more and to celebrate the contributions of LGBT Nebraskans. We also encourage Nebraskans to join our important work to end discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity that hurts us all. We pledge that we will never stop fighting for a Nebraska where LGBT people can live openly and where fair treatment on the job, in schools, housing, public places, and health care are not dependent on who you are or who you love,” said Executive Director Danielle Conrad.
The ACLU’s activities during the month of June include:

- June 26, oral arguments have been set in a federal court case wherein the ACLU of Nebraska is continuing our fight to protect critical nondiscrimination provisions of the ACA on behalf of our clients Kate Parrish and the River City Gender Alliance.
