The ACLU is our nation's guardian of liberty, working daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the United States Constitution and laws of Nebraska guarantee everyone in the Cornhusker state. ACLU of Nebraska is the state affiliate of the ACLU.

The ACLU of Nebraska’s priority work areas currently include:

  • Criminal justice and prison reform
  • LGBTQ+ rights
  • Women’s rights and reproductive health
  • Police practices and mass surveillance
  • First Amendment rights
  • Racial justice
  • Immigrants’ rights
  • Voting rights

Clerks will be hired as temporary employees and will assist our team of seven lawyers. Work will include client counseling and screening of requests for legal assistance, legal writing and research in support of our litigation program, and policy research in support of our legislative advocacy. Compensation varies based on school year, experience, and/or senior-certified status and can range between $22 to $25 per hour up to 15 to 20 hours/week during the school year.
