Katrina Thomas has been involved with advocacy in Lincoln for 15+ years. As an AmeriCorps member, she worked with youth and started organizing community events while receiving a Human Service degree from SCC. Continuing her education, she received degrees in Social Work and Criminal Justice from Nebraska Wesleyan University. For many years, she has worked with low-income families and refugees.
Katrina utilizes her education and personal experiences to raise social awareness by speaking at colleges, forums, and conferences about correctional reforms, alternatives to incarceration, and progressive re-entry planning. Her specialization is female incarceration and reintegration. She also serves on several community and legislative committees. Organizing recycling at community events is a hobby of Katrina’s and is a must if you are ever around her; she will dig in the trash to recycle for you if you don’t!
